Join us at our next regular chapter meeting at the Cumming Golden Corral for lunch, conversation, and business at 1130 hours, Thursday, 16 Nov 2023. Ms. Peggy Hoynes, friend of Paul Wingo will be our guest speaker. Peggy shares her experience growing up in World War II. She has a collection of old newspapers giving accounts of the surrender of Germany. There will be a few things to pass around and discuss that she has kept since the war. She and a neighbor boy collected light weight scrap metal that they took to a mom and pop grocery store so the military could come by and pick it up as salvage. In that time, there was no American apathy.
She was in downtown Atlanta celebrating as the war ended. She will present a very interesting address. We very much want to see you all. We will also talk about planning and executing our Christmas Dinner & Silent Auction.
Join us at our annual Christmas Dinner & Silent Auction on 13 Dec 2023, at the Achasta Country Clubhouse at 1730. This is our major fundraiser for the year. We need your support to attend and to donate items to let us all have fun bidding and winning wonderful "treasures." Final reservation/payment forms were emailed sent to all chapter members on 29 October. Please remember we love to have guests to help us celebrate and to help fund all our great community support programs. Need to have donated items picked up or get forms sent again? The Georgia Mountain Chapter campaign to purchase and sell Wreaths Across America wreaths is well underway. This is an important funding source for our chapter and a meaningful remembrance of those veterans who have gone before us.
National Wreaths Across America Day is Dec. 16, 2023.
The wreaths we sell are designated for the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton Ga.
Please purchase your wreaths today. Just click on the box to the right. This will take you to the Ga. Mtn. Chap. webpage at Wreaths Across America. Follow the easy instructions. If you would prefer to pay by check. Contact me at larry4541@me,com or call 404-786-9841. I will email you an order form with instructions.
Ask your family members, friends, local businesses to purchase wreaths. We want to reach our goal of 275 wreaths by Thanksgiving. If each member buys 5 wreaths we can do it. Special Note: WAA had a $2 price increase. The wreaths are $17.00 each this year.
Thank you for your support.

Our normal monthly meeting includes lunch and business to get all the good works of the Chapter done, and often a guest speaker. We normally meet the third Thursday of the month at the Golden Corral in Cumming at 1130. Our December meeting in a different venue is a semi-formal dinner and an exciting Silent Auction that is great fun. We do not meet in Jun, Jul, or Aug.
Join us to be a part of doing good things for past, present, and future members of the uniformed services of the USA.
